Craftsmanship Course in Food Production

Besides the 3 years B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration, the IHM Shillong is also conducting the One and Half Year Craftsmanship Course in Food Production.

Eligibility
The minimum qualification for admission is Class X pass of Senior Secondary Education or its equivalent with English as one of the compulsory subject.
Age limit is 22 years for General / PH and 25 years for SC / ST candidates as on 1st July. In the case of Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe candidates, upper age limit is relaxable by 3 years.
Admission will be subjected to verification of facts from the original certificates / documents produced by the candidates. Even after the admission to the Institute if an applicant is found ineligible on account of supplying false information or false testimonials or for having suppressed any material information, his / her admission will be cancelled.

Reservation of Seats

  • Documents required in support of claim for reservation under SC/ST and OBC categories.

The documents to be submitted at the time of admission:

  • Passport size – 2 nos.
  • Original And Photocopy (Two Sets) Of:
  • Pass Certificate of Qualifying Examination (Class 12)
  • Age Proof – Birth Certificate.
  • Caste Certificate.
  • Medical Certificate.

N.B. There is no concession of fees for SC/ST at Institute Level. There is provision of getting stipend from SC/ST Department of concerned State Government.

GUIDELINES FOR ADMITTED CANDIDATES

Attendance Requirements:
All candidates admitted to different courses will be required to put in a minimum of 75% attendance during the academic session. Those who fail to secure 75% attendance shall be debarred from appearing in the Term-End examinations to be conducted by the National Council. Principal of the institute is empowered to condone up to 10% of absence on medical grounds. Such requests should, however, be accompanied by medical certificate issued by any registered medical practitioner.

Assessment Parameters / Awards of Diploma
Candidates admitted to the Diploma Programs are required to appear in the in-house mid-term examination to be conducted by the Institute in December '08 / January '09. Annual examinations of all the courses are held on All India basis by the National Council for Hotel Management during the May every year. 
Successful candidates are awarded Diplomas by National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, NOIDA.

For Detained and Failed Candidates:
Detained candidates will be re-admitted to the subsequent academic session as repeaters on payment of full fees. Candidates who fail in the annual examination will have the discretion to appear in the subsequent annual examination either as a regular candidate after paying the full fees or appear therein as external candidate on payment of the examination fees only.

Uniform

There is a prescribed uniform code for attending theory and practical classes that is required to be followed by the students of Diploma Programs.
